Reading Week Fun
Reading Week is one of my favorite weeks of the year at RBE! I love to read, and it is awesome that we have a whole week of activities to help the kids get excited about reading. Thank you so much to all the parents, family members, and friends who signed up to be Mystery Readers in our class. Each time the kids were excited to guess who our Mystery Reader was going to be and what they were going to read. Check out some pictures below from all of our fun last week.

5th Grade Updates
Lots of Photos:
I have taken a lot of pictures the past couple of weeks. Below you will find links to pictures of BizTown, Maker Morning, and the Colonial Live Museum. Take a minute to see what we've been up to!
Conference Week:
Parent Teacher Conferences are scheduled for Feb. 13-15th. Your child's conference time is written in their Friday Folder. Please let me know if the date/time doesn't work for you. I look forward to visiting with everyone next week.
Upcoming Dates:
- Don't forget Book Projects are due on Friday, February 9th.
- Our Valentine's Party will be Wednesday, February 14th from 1:45-2:30. Your child is welcome (but not required) to make a Valentine's Box and bring Valentine's cards to pass out at school. We will be passing out Valentine's cards on Valentine's Day in the morning, before our party. I will send home a class list with everyone later this week.
- No School February 16 and 19th.
Supplies Needed!
Our classroom is out of Kleenex and Dry Erase Markers! If you are able to send a box or two next week, we would really appreciate it!
Stay warm, and have a great week!

News and Reminders
Hello 5th Grade Families!
It has been a little rough this week trying to get back into our routines. The short week, coupled with winter conditions that resulted in several indoor recesses, have left the kids antsy and chatty, and it has left their teacher pretty frazzled! Thank you for reinforcing school expectations at home with your kids. It really does make a difference if they know that we are all working together to help them grow and mature into students who are ready for success in middle school.
I wanted to make sure that everyone checks their child's Friday Folder this weekend. There is a yellow sheet that outlines some important info about our upcoming trip to Biztown on Tuesday, January 23rd. You can find a copy of that info here. The most important thing to note is that our bus should be back to school around 4:30, so please make sure your student has a plan to get home! This is one of my favorite things we do as a class, and I can't wait to see everyone working hard and having fun on Tuesday. Thank you sooooo much to all the parents who are volunteering their time to help make the trip a success for all the students involved. The kids really do learn so much from this experience.
Also, most students have finished writing their informational essay on colonial jobs. We will be editing and printing final copies next week. After students are finished with their paper, they will be creating a museum exhibit to showcase what they have learned at our Colonial Live Museum on Friday, February 2nd. We will be doing the work for this project at school, but students may need to bring some supplies from home. Every student will need different supplies, based upon what they choose to include in their exhibit, but all students will need to bring a trifold poster to school by Friday, January 26th. Usually these can be found at the dollar store for $1. More information about this will be coming home next week, but I wanted everyone to put the date on their calendars, because we would love for parents to come and visit our Colonial Live Museum on Friday, February 2nd from 12-12:30.
I also wanted to let you and the students know that since we are planning to have our museum on 2-2-18, I have decided to push back our next book project due date. Our next book project will now be due on Friday, February 9th.
Have a GREAT weekend!
