Sock Hop Fun

Thank you to everyone who helped to make this year's 5th Grade Sock Hop a success.  This is one of my favorite RBE 5th grade traditions. I love seeing the kids smiling, laughing, dancing, and having fun with their friends. Use the link below to see some of the pics from the evening.

Fun Week in 5th!

• Thank you to everyone who volunteered to help at JA Biztown yesterday!  I think the kids had a lot of fun and learned a little about what it is like to have a real job as an adult in the business world. I took a lot of pictures, so please use link to check out the google album to see pics of our fun.

End of Year Info

We have so much coming up in 5th Grade that I wanted to send out a few updates and reminders.  Please read through all of the information below, and let me know if you have any questions. Also, don't forget to read through the 5th Grade End of Year Calendar in your child's Friday Folder this week.  It is PACKED with important dates to remember.

5th Grade Sock Hop

• Don't forget to mark your calendars for the 5th Grade Sock Hop on April 26th from 6-8 at RBE.  Don't miss this fun and memorable event to celebrate the end of your child's elementary years!  Visit the link to sign up to donate items: Sock Hop Sign Up

MAP Testing

5th grade will be MAP testing April 16-25th.

• To make sure the kids know we are "Rooting" for them to do their best on the test, I wanted to have a Root Beer Float party.  If you are able to bring in items for this, please use the sign up link: Root Beer Float Sign Up

During testing days please make sure your child is present and well rested to help them do their very best on the test.  We only test for a small chunk of the day, so there will be plenty of time for students give their brains a break throughout the day.  Please keep in mind a few things:

• Make sure your child has ear buds at school!  They will need them for the test, and we only have a limited number of them at school.
• I don't want the kids to test on an empty stomach.  If you are able to donate some extra snacks for the class on one of the testing days, that would be awesome.

Baby Pics

• Don't forget to send in a baby picture of your child ASAP!  (See note from last week's Friday Folder)We will be using the picture for a special presentation.  If you can send a digital copy through email, that is preferred, but if you only have printed picture, that will work too.  I will take good care of it, and return it to you by the end of the month.

Literacy Award Deadline Approaching!

• Literacy Scholar Award - If your child has been working toward earning the Literacy Award, please remind them to get any final book summaries turned in ASAP.  The deadline to have all book summaries turned in for this award will be May 3rd.  I have reminded students about this deadline, numerous times in class. To earn this award at graduation, students must have read and turned in 10 book summary sheets in 5 different genres (the 4 book projects count toward this total).  Email me with questions.
