Meet the Teacher

I am so excited for another year teaching 5th grade at RBE!  I have three children of my own, Ella, Jacob, and Jack. Ella is 19 and just got her own apartment, Jacob is a Senior at RBHS, and Jack is in 7th grade at Gentry. My husband, Michael, is the Athletic Director at Rock Bridge High School.  As a family we love to root for Mizzou and the St. Louis Cardinals. We also like to spend as much time as possible swimming, canoeing, and BBQing at our family cabin on the Elk River.

This is my 10th year teaching at RBE, and I absolutely love my job!  I feel very fortunate to be able to spend my days with creative, talented, and interesting kids.  Before I started teaching, I was a stay at home mom for 10 years.  As my kids got older I decided that I wanted to go back to school to become a teacher.  I have a B.A. in Psychology and  I completed Columbia College's post baccalaureate teacher certification program by attending evening classes and completing field experience in several schools across the district.  I love RBE and 5th grade is such a fun and interesting grade to teach!

I believe one of my strengths as a teacher is my ability to develop positive relationships with students.  To help a student grow to reach their potential as a learner and a person, we must first develop a mutual trust and respect.  I look forward to the opportunity to get to know a new group of kids this year, and I am excited to help them learn and grow as individuals.  Thank you for sharing your children with me!
