First Two Weeks

We've spent some time the first two weeks getting to know each other and learning the routines and expectations of 5th grade. This is such a fun group of kids, and I am very thankful that I get to spend everyday learning with them. I wanted to share a few pictures from our first week.

ME Bags

Getting to know a little about each other.

"Inside our Heads"

Can you spot your child?

Teamwork

We talked about what it should look like and sound like when groups are working together as a team. We practiced listening to others' ideas, sharing limited materials, and making sure that everyone is included in the task.

Science

In Science, we are learning about matter in ecosystems. Food chains are teaching us that when we find something living in an area we can ourselves the food chain questions: 1- What does it eat? and 2- What does it get eaten by? Asking these two questions can help us learn more about what living things might be around us.  We also played a fun card game called, To Eat or To Be Eaten.

Nap Time!

Ask your child about this photo! They are so funny and started doing this every day when we come in from recess. They did this spontaneously one day. They'll say, "Quiet! It's nap time!" and everyone lays their head down in silence and pretends to sleep for a minute before I make them start Spelling. It's kind of nice, and I wish we actually had time for a nap after recess in 5th grade.

Have a GREAT long weekend!
